June 21-25: 9 AM- 1 PM Grades 6-12
Jazz camp is a week long intensive focusing on small group jazz playing. The students will learn jazz standards and each instrument's role when performing them. We will explore jazz theory and improvisations. We will discuss the importance of learning the history of jazz and how the music has changed over the years. Open to piano, guitar, bass (electric or upright), drums, woodwind, and brass. Students must have had a year of private lessons or band class to attend this camp.
June 28-July 1: 9 AM-1 PM Grades 3-5
This camp is designed for students who have never played the ukulele at all and those who might have a little experience playing, but want to go a little deeper. We will learn strumming patterns and chords as well as how to play melodies by reading notes and tabs. Bring your own ukulele and let's have some fun!
July 5-9: 9 AM-1 PM Grades 4-8
Participants will leave camp with an understanding of basic storytelling skills, from deriving plot to exploring characters through improvisation and dramatic expression. Campers will engage with the creative process by turning found objects into tools, props, and instruments for individual and collaborative storytelling. Participants will be encouraged to recognize which part of the storytelling process appeals to them most, and will dive into the basic elements of music and movement.
July 12-16: 9 AM- 1 PM Grades 6-12
Rock band camp will introduce your student to playing with other instruments and how to work together to create music. Not only will the students learn about playing music, we will learn about song forms and common chord progressions used in popular music. Rock history will also be covered from early blues and rockabilly to the modern rock of today. Open to piano, guitar, bass, drums, and voice. At least a year of private lessons is a prerequisite for instrumentalists.
July 19-23: 9 AM- 1 PM Grades K-3 FULL!
July 26-30: 9 AM- 1 PM Grades 4-6
Show choir camp is open to students who are interested in singing and performing. We will focus on learning to sing as a group, using our voices in a healthy way, and learning choreography to compliment our sound. This class is a fun introduction to students who love to sing but may not be used to singing in a choir, as well as a good challenge for students who have been singing in choir for years. We will learn a short show and perform it at the end of the week!
*Due to the nature of this class and COVID-19, some of this class will be taught outdoors to comply with CDC singing guidelines
August 2-6, 9 AM- 1 PM, Grades K-3
In Active Music! K-3 students will learn about musical concepts such as rhythm, instrument identification, and musical creation through games, group challenges, and outdoor activities. This week will be all about using that summer energy to get young students excited about making music with their friends!
August 9-13, 9 AM- 1 PM Ages 3-5 (must be potty trained)
Our youngest musicians will sing, dance, play, and create in our Preschool Music Explorers Camp. Students will explore the wide world of music through movement activities, listening, games, and playing percussion instruments. Dynamic movement and listening activities will encourage students to dive into exploring how their movements and imaginations can create expressive rhythms and musical masterpieces. Through play, students will discover musical concepts like steady beat, pitch, and dynamics. Join us as we explore the wonderful world of music together this summer.
August 16-20, 9 AM- 1 PM Grades 3-6
Guitar camp will give you all the fundamentals you need to start your guitar playing future. We’ll cover basic chords and note names, reading music and TAB, strumming, and basic scales. Basic chord theory and ear training will be covered too, so the student can start to learn music by just listening to the recording! Students must provide their own guitar.
August 23-27, 9 AM- 1 PM Grades 6-12
Find your voice and have a blast singing the hits from your favorite Broadway shows with your friends old and new! This exploration of musical theatre will allow students to learn about the history of Broadway, along with vocal technique and performance tips! Students will have opportunities for ensemble and solo/ duet performances. The week will culminate with a small outdoor musical revue.
All camps are in person with precautions taken against COVID-19. Students are expected to do a home health check prior to class each day. All students and teachers will wear masks inside the building, and outside when closer than 6 feet apart. Much of the camp time will be spent outside particularly in camps that involve singing, weather permitting. Hand sanitizer is provided, as well as a sink and soap for hand washing. No materials are shared. Students with known exposure to COVID-19 may not attend camp. Class sizes will be limited to allow for social distancing.
All camps cost $250 and run 9 AM- 1 PM, Monday- Friday. Register by May 1 for early bird pricing of $225. A deposit of $25 is due prior to May 1. Those registering after May 1 will owe a deposit of $50. The remaining $200 is due on the first day of the month of your camp (June 1, July 1 or August 1).
Each child needs to bring a packed lunch, a morning snack, and a beach towel to sit on for outdoor, socially-distanced eating. Please also send a water bottle every day.
